In 1989, the legal penalties for rape were enhanced such that any person convicted for this offence faces an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and is also liable to whipping.

In the case of a married couple, an adoption decree may be made on an application of the two spouses who must have been married and living together for a period of not less than five years.
وفي حالة المتزوجين قد يصدر قرار بشأن طلب مقدم من الزوجين اللذين يشترط أن يكونا متزوجين ومقيمين معا لمدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات.

" 3- بالأشغال الشاقة مدة لا تنقص عن خمس سنوات إذا كانت المخطوفة ذات بعل سواء كانت أتمت الخامسة عشرة من عمرها أم لم تتم.

If a young person who is answerable for his acts commits a felony punishable by death or life imprisonment, these two penalties are commuted to a term of not less than five years' imprisonment, which the convicted young person must serve at a place reserved for juveniles bearing criminal responsibility for their acts.
وإذا ارتكب الصغير المسؤول جناية عقوبتها اﻹعدام أو السجن المؤبد يستبدل بهاتين العقوبتين السجن لمدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات ويمضي الصغير المحكوم عليه، العقوبة في محل خاص باﻷحداث المسؤولين جنائياً.

A penalty of not less than five years' imprisonment and/or a fine of not less than 10,000 rials shall be imposed on anyone who admits a person to a prison without a written order from the competent court or the Department of Public Prosecutions.
يعاقب بالسجن مدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات أو بغرامة لا تقل عن عشرة آلاف ريال أو بالعقوبتين معاً كل من قبل في السجن شخصاً دون أمر كتابي من المحكمة المختصة أو النيابة العامة.

If a minor who is criminally liable commits a felony which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment, those penalties are commuted to a term of imprisonment of not less than five years.
31- إذا ارتكب الصغير المسؤول جنائياً جناية عقوبتها الإعدام أو السجن المؤبد، يُستبدل بهاتين العقوبتين السجن لمدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات.

323. Article 62 of the same Act provides that: " Without prejudice to any harsher penalty prescribed under any other law, any person who prompts or incites a child to use, traffic in or sell narcotic or psychotropic substances shall be punished with imprisonment for a period of not less than five years and not more than eight years.
323- ونصت في المادة 162 من القانون نفسه على أنه " مع عدم الإخلال بأي عقوبة أشد منصوص عليها في أي قانون آخر، يعاقب بالحبس مدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات ولا تزيد على ثمان سنوات كل من دفع أو حرض طفلاً على تعاطي المخدرات أو المؤثرات العقلية أو الاتجار بها أو الترويج لها.

(7) If the perpetration of the criminal offence referred to in paragraphs 1 and 2 caused serious health damage, grievous bodily harm or the death of the persons referred to in paragraphs 1 and 2, the perpetrator shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of not less than five years or long-term imprisonment.
' 7` يعاقب الجاني بالسجن لمدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات أو بالسجن الطويل الأجل إذا تسبب الإعداد للجناية المشار إليها في الفقرة 1 والفقرة 2 في ضرر صحي أو أذى جسماني جسيم أو وفاة الأشخاص المشار إليهم في الفقرتين 1 و 2؛

(c) Staff members in receipt of a language allowance may be required to undergo further tests at intervals of not less than five years in order to demonstrate their continued proficiency in the use of two or more official languages.
)ج( قد يطلب من الموظفين الذين يتقاضون بدل لغة التقدم ﻷداء امتحانات جديدة في اللغة على فترات لا تقل عن خمس سنوات بقصد إثبات استمرار كفاءتهم في استعمال لغتين أو أكثر من اللغات الرسمية.

Anyone possessing any of the arms listed in paragraph (a) of article 3 of this Law shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 15 years.
يعاقب بالسجن مدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات ولا تزيد على خمس عشرة سنة من يحوز سلاحا من اﻷسلحة المنصوص عليها في البند )أ( من المادة الثالثة من هذا القانون.

19. The law is even harsher towards a person who aborts a woman with her consent, the minimum penalty for this being increased from six months' to one year's imprisonment and, if the woman dies as a result of the abortion, the offender is liable to a term of not less than five years' imprisonment.
19- كما أن التشريع كان أقصى في حالة قيام شخص آخر بإجهاض إمرأة برضاها، فقد رفع القانون الحد الأدنى من العقوبة من ستة أشهر إلى سنة، وإذا ما أفضى الاجهاض إلى موت المرأة عوقب الفاعل بالسجن مدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات

“2. If the abortion or the means used to induce it lead to the woman's death, the offender shall be liable to a term of not less than five years' imprisonment with hard labour.”
" 2- وإذا أفضى الاجهاض أو الوسائل التي استعملت في سبيله إلى موت المرأة عوقب الفاعل بالاشغال الشاقة مدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات " .

- To retain all documents relating to clients and their financial transactions or commercial or financial deals, whether domestic or foreign, for a period of not less than five years from the date of conclusion of the transaction; such documents must be produced at the request of the money-laundering intelligence unit of the Bank Monitoring Section of the Central Bank, under the supervision of the Governor;

Article 88 of the Environment Act of 1994 provides that the penalty for any violation of the provisions of article 29 of the Act shall be a term of imprisonment of not less than five years and a fine of not less than 20,000 Egyptian pounds and not more than 40,000 Egyptian pounds.

42- تجيز القاعدة 106-19 (ج) من النظام الإداري للموظفين، مطالبة الموظفين الذين يتقاضون بدلات لغوية بالخضوع لاختبارات إضافية على فترات لا تقل عن خمس سنوات من أجل إثبات تواصل كفاءتهم في استخدام اثنتين أو أكثر من اللغات الرسمية.

Article 148 and 149 list the penalties to be imposed in the event of perpetration of any of the acts for which provision is made. These are deterrent penalties that take into account the serious nature of such offences in that they range between hard labour for a period of not less than five years and the death penalty.
وقد أدرجت المادتان (148) و (149) العقوبات الواجب توقيعها في حال ارتكاب أي فعل من الأفعال المنصوص عليها، وهي عقوبات رادعة تراعى فيها الطبيعة الخطيرة لتلك الجرائم بحيث تتراوح ما بين الأشغال الشاقة المؤقتة لمدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات والإعدام.

(d) Anyone who, without a licence, trades in, imports, exports or repairs any of the arms listed in paragraph (a) of article 3 of this Law, or any of their main parts or ammunition, shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 15 years and/or a fine of not less than RO 500 and not more than RO 5,000.
)د( يعاقب بالسجن مدة لا تقل عن خمس سنوات ولا تزيد على خمس عشرة سنة وبغرامة لا تقل عن خمسمائة ريال عماني ولا تزيد على خمسة آلاف ريال عماني كل من اتجر أو استورد أو صدر أو أصلح أيا من اﻷسلحة المبينة في البند )أ( من المادة الثالثة من هذا القانون أو أحد أجزائها الرئيسية أو ذخيرتها.
