وقد وقعت الأحداث بعد صلاة الجمعة في الحرم القدسي الشريف الذي يضم المسجد الأقصى ومسجد قبة الصخرة، عندما بدأ مئات من المصلين الفلسطينيين في التظاهر احتجاجا على تهديد المتطرفين اليهود مؤخّرا بدخول الحرم الشريف ومحاولاتهم المعلَنة للقيام بذلك.

In this regard, today, Israel completely sealed off the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for the first time since 1967, preventing the entry of Palestinian worshippers and of at least 500 students who study in religious schools inside the compound, and even preventing the entry of the Muezzin, who leads the Muslim call to prayer.

Notwithstanding these encouraging developments, the Committee remained greatly concerned at the continuation of repressive activities by Israeli troops and attacks by armed settlers, exemplified most tragically by the massacre of Palestinian worshippers at the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron in February 1994.
٤ - وعلى الرغم من هذه التطورت المشجعة، لا يزال قلق بالغ يساور اللجنة ازاء استمرار القوات الاسرائيلية في أنشطتها القمعية واستمرار المستوطنين المسلحين في شن الهجمات، على نحو ما شهدت به بصورة مفجعة المجزرة التي ذهب ضحيتها المصلون الفلسطينيون فـي الحرم اﻹبراهيمي بالخليل فــي شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٤.

However, despite these positive developments, the Committee was alarmed by the repeated violent incidents aimed at derailing the peace process, including the massacre of Palestinian worshippers at the Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron in February 1994 and subsequent incidents which have highlighted the fragility of the peace process and the awesome difficulties it confronts.
