The Commission identified the following types of succession in practice: transfer of part of the territory; unification of States; dissolution of a State; separation of part or parts of the territory.
حددت اللجنة اﻷنواع التالية للخلافة من حيث الممارسة: نقل جزء من اﻹقليم؛ وتوحيد الدول؛ وانحلال دولة من الدول؛ وانفصال جزء أو أجزاء من اﻹقليم.

This is obvious at first glance, given that the transfer of part of the territory of a State is governed by just one article, article 20, whereas three articles, articles 24, 25 and 26, apply to the separation of part or parts of the territory of a State.
وهذا واضح للوهلة اﻷولى، حيث أن نقل جزء من إقليم الدولة لا تحكمة سوى مادة واحدة، هي المادة ٢٠، في حين تنطبق على انفصال جزء أو أجزاء من إقليم الدولة ثلاث مواد هي ٢٤ و ٢٥ و ٢٦.

Notwithstanding article 3, which stipulates that the articles on nationality of natural persons in relation to the succession of States apply only to the effects of a succession of States occurring in conformity with international law, the criteria to be used for the determination of conformity with international law of cases of separation of part or parts of the territory of a State are uncertain.

25. Part II was divided into four sections devoted to specific categories of succession of States, namely the transfer of part of the territory, the unification of States, the dissolution of a State and the separation of part or parts of the territory.
25 - وينقسم الباب الثاني إلى أربعة فروع مخصصة لفئات محددة من خلافة الدول، ألا وهي نقل جزء من الإقليم، وتوحيد الدول، وانحلال الدولة، وانفصال جزء أو أجزاء من الإقليم.

Contrary to what is provided in article 20 with respect to a transfer of territory, in the case of separation of part or parts of the territory, the right of option for the retention of the nationality of the predecessor State is not envisaged for all persons concerned qualified to acquire the nationality of the successor State.
وعلى عكس ما نص عليه في المادة 20 فيما يتصل بنقل إقليم، فإن حق اختيار الاحتفاظ بجنسية الدولة السلف، في حالة انفصال جزء أو أجزاء من الاقليم، لا يمنح لجميع الأشخاص المعنيين المؤهلين لاكتساب جنسية الدولة الخلف.
