60. Provisions of Part VII of the Agreement. At the informal meeting an extensive discussion was also conducted on the provisions of Part VII of the Agreement concerning the requirements of developing States, including specific calls for cooperation with and assistance to developing States.

Our group is also pleased with the progress made at the second informal meeting of States parties to the United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement, held in July, which elaborated a framework to enable the concrete implementation of Part VII of the Agreement, with particular emphasis on small island developing States and their fisheries aspirations.
