At present, the Legal and Technical Commission is considering the draft regulations on prospecting and exploration of polymetallic nodules in the Area, which also include the draft standard terms of exploration contract.

8. During the workshop, a presentation was made by a member of the Legal and Technical Commission on document ISBA/7/LTC/1/Rev.1, Recommendations for the guidance of contractors for the assessment of the possible environmental impacts arising from exploration of polymetallic nodules in the Area.

22. The Commission held a brief discussion on issues relating to proposed regulations for exploitation of polymetallic nodules in the Area.
