56. In conclusion, I share the opinion of President Sleiman as outlined in his address to the Security Council on 27 September, in which he stated that the implementation of Security Council resolutions is the best guarantee to ensure peace and security and prevent conflicts.
56 - وفي الختام، أشاطر الرئيس سليمان رأيه الذي أبداه في كلمته أمام مجلس الأمن في 27 أيلول/سبتمبر، حيث ذكر أن تنفيذ قرارات مجلس الأمن هو أفضل ضمان يكفل السلام والأمن ومنع نشوب النزاعات.

At the first meeting, on 16 August, participants from across the political spectrum worked together under the chairmanship of President Sleiman to address the security situation in the country, including the recent spate of kidnappings.

5. Following a serious episode of violence involving armed clashes in the southern city of Sidon on 23 and 24 June between supporters of a Salafist sheikh and the Lebanese Armed Forces, I condemned the attacks on the armed forces and stressed that all in Lebanon should fully respect the authority of the State and its institutions under the leadership of President Sleiman.
5 - وبعد جولة عنف خطيرة دارت في خلالها اشتباكات مسلحة في مدينة صيدا بجنوب لبنان يومي 23 و 24 حزيران/يونيه بين أنصار شيخ سلفي والجيش اللبناني، أدنتُ الاعتداءات على الجيش وشددت على أنه ينبغي للجميع في لبنان أن يحترموا سلطة الدولة ومؤسساتها بقيادة الرئيس سليمان احتراما تاما.

Furthermore, I note positively the commitment of President Sleiman to leading a national process to address this issue, which remains a key aspect of resolution 1701 (2006).
