As part of the implementation of the African Information Society Initiative (AISI), ECA convened the first meeting of the African Technical Advisory Committee on AISI, and participated in the meeting of Partnership for Information and Communication Technologies in Africa.
وفي سياق تنفيذ مبادرة جمعيات المعلومات اﻷفريقية عقدت اللجنة الاقتصادية ﻷفريقيا أول اجتماع للجنة الاستشارية التقنية اﻷفريقية المعنية بمبادرة جمعيات المعلومات اﻷفريقية وشاركت في الاجتماع المعني بالشراكة من أجل تكنولوجيات المعلومات والاتصال في أفريقيا.

The meeting adopted the Oliver Tambo Declaration, which commits African countries to the development of ICT within the framework of the African Information Society Initiative and the Global e-Policy Resource Network.
واعتمد الاجتماع إعلان أوليفر تامبو، الذي تلتزم البلدان الأفريقية بموجبه بتطوير تكنولوجيا المعلومات والاتصالات في إطار مبادرة مجتمع المعلومات الأفريقي والشبكة العالمية لموارد السياسات الإلكترونية.

The Committee took note of progress made on the implementation of the African Information Society Initiative (AISI) within West Africa over the past decade, including national ICT policies and strategies.

ECA will continue to hold two ad hoc expert group meetings of the African Technical Advisory Committee on Information and Communications Technology in order to promote the implementation of the African Information Society Initiative.

(a) Review and advise on the implementation of the African Information Society Initiative, an action framework for national information and communications infrastructure, with a view to suggesting measures to accelerate its implementation;

It adopted the plan of action proposed in the report and called upon the Economic Commission for Africa, in consultation with member States, along with the major international organizations and bilateral partners, to incorporate the objectives of the African Information Society and to consider utilizing it as a guiding framework.
واعتمد خطة العمل المقترحة في التقرير، ودعا اللجنة الاقتصادية لافريقيا إلى القيام، بالتشاور مع الدول اﻷعضاء والمنظمات الدولية الرئيسية والشركاء الثنائيين، بإدراج أهداف مجتمع المعلومات الافريقي والنظر في استعمالها بوصفها إطارا إرشاديا.
