Cameroon would like to take this opportunity to express its deepest appreciation to the Secretary-General, who, with boldness and wisdom, successfully raised at the very outset of his term of office the issue of the capacity of the Organization to maintain peace and to manage disarmament.

70. In accordance with General Assembly resolution 61/256 on strengthening of the capacity of the Organization in peacekeeping operations, it was important to evaluate the progress of the realignment process.
