٣٢ - وذكر أن تقرير المفوض العام لﻷونروا (A/52/13) يعكس الوضع الدقيق فيما يتعلق بتقديم المساعدة والعجز المتراكم في ميزانيتها، الذي بلغ حوالي ٢٠ مليون دولار.

69. Ghana shared the opinion of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA that, in order to maintain for the functioning of the Agency, it was necessary to strengthen cooperation among all parties involved in providing assistance to Palestine refugees, namely UNRWA, donor countries and members of the international community.

During the period covered by the report of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA (A/53/13), the Government of Jordan had allocated significant resources to cover the costs of education, leasing of premises, improvement of public utilities, payment of subsidies, and provision of rations and social and health-care services.

Ms. Van Daalen (Netherlands), introducing draft resolution A/C.4/53/L.10, pointed out that the special report of the Working Group on the financing of UNRWA and the report of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA both noted the Agency’s persisting critical financial situation, which was jeopardizing its work.

35. Mr. La Rosa Dominguez (Cuba) welcomed the report of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA (A/60/13), which described the excellent work done by the Agency in difficult conditions that were often attributable to the hostile attitude of the Israeli Government, as evidenced by the latter's harassment of the Agency's operations, including the detentions of its staff.

40. Mr. Kabtani (Tunisia) said that, as exemplified in the report of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA (A/60/13), the Palestinian refugees continued to suffer grim living conditions, including closures, destruction of property and restrictions on their mobility, and were caught in an endless cycle of violence at the hands of the Israeli occupation authorities.

6. In connection with paragraph 3 of General Assembly resolution 61/113, the Secretary-General refers to the report of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA for the period from 1 January to 31 December 2006 and to the previous reports of the Commissioner-General for accounts of the continuous and ongoing assistance provided by UNRWA to persons displaced and in need of continued assistance.
6 - وفيما يتعلــــق بالفقــــرة 3 من قــــرار الجمعية العامة 61/113، يحيل الأمين العام إلــــى تقريــر المفوضة العامة للأونروا عن الفترة من 1 كانون الثاني/يناير إلى 31 كانون الأول/ ديسمبر 2006() وإلى التقارير السابقة للمفوضة العامة للاطلاع على سرود المساعدة المستمرة والجارية التي تقدمها الأونروا إلى النازحين المحتاجين إلى المساعدة المستمرة.

The General Assembly endorsed the efforts of the Commissioner-General of UNRWA to continue to provide humanitarian assistance, and requested the Secretary-General, after consulting with the Commissioner-General, to report to the Assembly before its sixty-ninth session on the progress made with regard to the implementation of the resolution (resolution 68/77).
