وعقدت جامعة الدول العربية عدة اجتماعات منذ عام ٣٨٩١ لمجلس الوزراء العرب المسؤولين عن الشباب والرياضة، وبالمثل تم عقد مؤتمرات للوزراء الناطقين بالفرنسية المسؤولين عن الشباب والرياضة، وعقدت ثمانية مؤتمرات لوزراء الشباب في المنطقة اﻷيبرية ـ اﻷمريكية منذ عام ٥٨٩١.

The report was requested by a decision of the seventeenth session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) and is being prepared under the umbrella of CAMRE and with the assistance of a number of collaborating centres in West Asia and Northern Africa.

58. The UNEP Regional Office for West Asia has been providing support in the field of environment and sustainable development to the League of Arab States through the technical secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE).

Tunisia and Iraq recognized the important role of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment, but advocated for the establishment of a sustainable development council or a regional high-level political forum for sustainable development that can effectively integrate social, economic and environmental issues.
