14. Part Four of the Courts Act of 1993 (Act 459) provides in section 56, on the criminal jurisdiction of the Courts, that:

4.3 After explaining the operation of section 108 of the Courts' Act (governing the disqualification of jurors), the State party points out that it is not uncommon for jurors to have negative feelings towards the defendant in a criminal case, but that this does not imply that they are incapable of giving the defendant a fair hearing.
٤-٣ وبعد إيضاح كيفية تطبيق المادة ١٠٨ من قانون المحاكم )المنظمة ﻹبطال أهلية المحلفين(، تشير الدولة الطرف إلى أنه ليس من غير الشائع أن يكون للمحلفين آراء سلبية إزاء المدعى عليه في قضية جنائية، ولكن هذا لا يعني ضمنا أنهم عاجزون عن الاستماع بروح اﻹنصاف إلى المدعى عليه.

Aliens and stateless persons in Estonia have the right to protection by the courts, equal to the right for Estonian citizens, if not otherwise established in international treaties entered into by the republic of Estonia (article 4 (2) of the Courts Act).

Article 6 of the Courts Act establishes equality before the law and the courts: " All citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan are equal before the law and the courts without distinction as to sex, race, ethnic origin, language, religion, social origin, beliefs or individual or social status. "
والمادة 6 من قانون المحاكم ترسي المساواة أمام القانون والمحاكم على النحو التالي: " جميع مواطني جمهورية أوزبكستان متساوون أمام القانون والمحاكم دون تمييز على أساس الجنس أو العنصر أو الأصل الإثني أو اللغة أو الدين أو الأصل الاجتماعي أو المعتقد أو الوضع الفردي أو الاجتماعي " .

119. Article 2 of the Courts Act (as amended on 14 December 2000) sets out the tasks of the courts: " courts in the Republic of Uzbekistan are responsible for protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens proclaimed in the Constitution and other laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and international human rights instruments, and for safeguarding the rights and legally protected interests of enterprises, institutions and organizations.
119- وتحدد المادة 2 من قانون المحاكم (بصيغته المعدلة في 14 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2000) مهام المحاكم على النحو التالي: " المحاكم في جمهورية أوزبكستان مسؤولة عن حماية حقوق المواطنين وحرياتهم المنصوص عليها في الدستور وغيره من قوانين جمهورية أوزبكستان، والصكوك الدولية لحقوق الإنسان، وعن الحفاظ على حقوق الشركات والمؤسسات والمنظمات وعلى مصالحها التي يحميها القانون.
