29. The Commission on Sustainable Development requested this comprehensive assessment of the freshwater resources of the world, to be submitted to it at its fifth session, and to the General Assembly at its special session in 1997.

Invites the organizations of the United Nations system to consider the findings and recommendations contained in the Committee on Natural Resources strategy paper mentioned in paragraph 2 above, in particular with regard to the ongoing preparation of a comprehensive assessment of the freshwater resources of the world, and invites them to give wide dissemination to that paper.

3. Requests the Secretary-General, in close cooperation with organs and organizations of the United Nations system, to prepare a report on follow-up to the comprehensive assessment of the freshwater resources of the world, including methodological questions arising from the characterization of vulnerability and problem areas in assessing the freshwater resources of the world, for the consideration of the Committee at its fourth session;
٣ - تطلب الى اﻷمين العام أن يعد، بالتعاون الوثيق مع هيئات ومؤسسات منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة تقريرا عن متابعة التقييم الشامل لموارد المياه العذبة في العالم، وضمن ذلك المسائل المنهجية الناشئة من خصائص الضعف والمجالات الاشكالية في تقييم موارد المياه العذبة في العالم، لكي تنظر فيه اللجنة خلال دورتها الرابعة؛
