The Co-Chairpersons noted that an extensive list of issues for the future work of the General Assembly on oceans and the law of the sea had been proposed by delegations over the past five meetings of the Consultative Process, as reflected in the reports of the fourth and fifth meetings (A/58/95, part C and A/59/122, part C).

The Co-Chairpersons pointed out that an extensive list of issues that could benefit from attention in the future work of the General Assembly on oceans and the law of the sea had been proposed by delegations over the past four meetings of the Consultative Process, as reflected in the report of the fourth meeting (A/58/95, part C).

It was also noted that the Consultative Process had had a re-invigorating effect on the debates of the General Assembly on oceans and the law of the sea, which had become more focused and relevant and demonstrated the value of the work of the Consultative Process.
