This year, for the first time in 60 years, we commemorated the tragic anniversary of the Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.

Taking this opportunity I wish once again to express our gratitude to all States that signed the joint statement on the seventieth anniversary of the Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine -- Holodomor -- or whose parliaments adopted acts of condemnation and sympathy, and to all organizations and individuals that took part in the events to honour the victims of the great famine.

In paragraph 3 of the same report, the General Committee decided to recommend that an item entitled " Commemoration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine (Holodomor) " not be included in the agenda of the sixty-second session.

59. With regard to item 156 of the draft agenda (Commemoration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine (Holodomor)), the General Committee decided to postpone to a later date, during this calendar year, its consideration of the question of the inclusion of this item.
59 - وفيما يتعلق بالبند 156 من مشروع جدول الأعمال (إحياء الذكرى الخامسة والسبعين لمجاعة عامي 1932 و 1933 الكبرى في أوكرانيا (هولودومور))، قرر المكتب إرجاء النظر في مسألة إدراج هذا البند إلى وقت لاحق من هذه السنة.

In paragraph 59, the General Assembly is also informed that the General Committee decided to postpone to a later date during this calendar year its consideration of the question of the inclusion of item 156 of the draft agenda, " Commemoration of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine (Holodomor) " .

Recently here at the United Nations, and throughout the world, we observed a sad anniversary of the Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine -- the Holodomor -- one of the most tragic events in the history of my country and, I believe, in the history of humankind.
وقد أحيينا مؤخرا، هنا في الأمم المتحدة، وفي أنحاء العالــم، الذكــرى المحزنــة للمجاعة الكبرى في عامي 1932 و 1933 في أوكرانيا، وهي واحدة من أقسى المآسي في تاريخ بلدي بل، في اعتقادي، في تاريخ البشرية.
