Reporting on its activities, the Bureau of the Commission spoke of: the Science and Technology for Development web site (STDev) as a gateway to information on science and technology activities within the United Nations system; the Science and Technology Diplomacy Initiative; and the upcoming publication of the Information and Communication technologies (ICT) development indices.

VIII.53 Reclassification from P-5 to D-1, Chief, Information and Communication Technology Service (A/58/6 (Sect. 29E), para. 29E.26). From the information provided during the hearings and in the documentation, the Advisory Committee is not convinced that the post of Chief of the Information and Communication Technology Service should be reclassified to the D-1 level at this time, and therefore recommends against its approval.
