The conclusions and recommendations of the intergovernmental consultation enriched and reiterated the findings of the synthesis report by the Executive Director and constitute an important part of the Executive Director's report on international environmental governance.
وقد أثرت الاستنتاجات والتوصيات التي خرجت بها المشاورات الحكومية الدولية استنتاجات التقرير التجميعي الذي أعده المدير التنفيذي(4) وجاءت مطابقة لها، وهي تشكل جزءاً مهماً من تقرير المدير التنفيذي عن الإدارة البيئية الدولية(5).

4. The Executive Director also took advantage of the intergovernmental consultation to organize a two-day meeting of leading scientific and technical experts, which took place on 12 and 13 January, as well as an informal inter-agency meeting that took place on 16 January 2004.

The Council/Forum noted the report of the Executive Director on the synthesis of responses on strengthening the scientific base of UNEP and took note of the conclusions and recommendations contained in the report of the intergovernmental consultation on strengthening the scientific base of UNEP.

The Council/Forum requested the Executive Director to evaluate the conclusions and recommendations contained in the report of the intergovernmental consultation and to prepare a report to the Governing Council for consideration at its twenty-third session, and decided to review the implementation of the conclusions and recommendations contained in the report of the intergovernmental consultation at its twenty-third session.
وطلب المجلس/المنتدى إلى المدير التنفيذي القيام بتقييم النتائج والتوصيات الواردة في تقرير المشاورة الحكومية الدولية، إعداد تقرير إلى مجلس الإدارة لبحثه أثناء دورته الثالثة والعشرين، وقرر استعراض تنفيذ النتائج والتوصيات الواردة في تقرير المشاورة الحكومية الدولية أثناء دورته الثالثة والعشرين.

The synthesis report and outcomes of the intergovernmental consultation will therefore be (UNEP/GCSS.VIII/5/Add.4) are an important inputs to foundation for further consideration of this issue by the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum.
