Pursuant to previous resolutions on this subject, contacts and dialogue between the United Nations and the OIC and their respective agencies and bodies will continue to be strengthened through the support of the Islamic Group in New York and Geneva and a number of OIC contact groups and committees at the United Nations.

On behalf of the Islamic Group and of the Follow-up Committee on the Ninth Islamic Summit Conference, we are now writing to you to request your urgent initiative in dealing with the grave situation and, in particular, in providing international protection to the Palestinian people against the inhuman atrocities of Israel, the occupying Power.

1. An urgent meeting of the Islamic Group at the United Nations was convened on 27 July 2000 at United Nations Headquarters to discuss the situation in Indonesia, particularly the recent developments in the Moluccas, in the light of the interest and concerns expressed by certain quarters of the international community.
1 - اجتمعت المجموعة الإسلامية بالأمم المتحدة، في 27 تموز/يوليه 2000، بمقر الأمم المتحدة لمناقشة الحالة في إندونيسيا وبخاصة التطورات الأخيرة في مقاطعة مولوكاس وذلك في ضوء ما أبدته بعض دوائر المجتمع الدولي من اهتمام وقلق.

103. The Conference welcomed the establishment of the Islamic Group in UNESCO and urged this group to convene regular meetings at the level of ambassadors and experts with the aim of coordinating the positions of the Member States on issues of common interest to the Islamic world, particularly on the International Convention on Cultural Diversity, which is expected to be completed in 2005.
103- رحب بإنشاء المجموعة الإسلامية في اليونسكو وحث المجموعة المذكورة على عقد اجتماعات دورية على مستوى السفراء والخبراء بهدف تنسيق مواقف الدول الأعضاء حول الموضوعات ذات الاهتمام المشترك للعالم الإسلامي وبصفة خاصة حول المعاهدة الدولية للتنوع الثقافي والتي من المتوقع استكمالها عام 2005م.

3. Welcomes the setting-up of the Islamic Group in UNESCO, and urges the aforesaid Group to hold regular meetings at Ambassadorial and Expert levels in order to coordinate the positions of the Member States on issues of common concern to the Islamic world, in particular, on the international Convention on Cultural Diversity which is expected to be finalized in 2005.
3 - يرحب بإنشاء المجموعة الإسلامية في اليونسكو ويحث المجموعة المذكورة على عقد اجتماعات دورية على مستوى السفراء والخبراء بهدف تنسيق مواقف الدول الأعضاء حول الموضوعات ذات الاهتمام المشترك للعالم الإسلامي وبصفة خاصة حول المعاهدة الدولية للتنوع الثقافي والتي من المتوقع استكمالها عام 2005م.
