95. Should the General Assembly approve a revised annual base salary of US$ 177,900 per annum, the annual retirement benefit of the judges of the Tribunals retiring in 2007 would increase by 4.6 per cent, from US$ 37,796 per annum to US$ 39,533, with effect from 1 January 2007.

6. In his 2001 and 2006 comprehensive reviews of the conditions of service and the pension benefits of the judges, the Secretary-General had shared the concern of the two Tribunals that the disparity between the pension benefits of the judges of the Tribunals and of the judges of the International Court of Justice had resulted in discrimination against the judges of the Tribunals.

On the issue concerning the privileges and immunities of the judges of the Tribunals (see A/69/227, annex V), delegations supported the proposal by the Secretary-General to clarify, for ease of reference, the scope of the immunities of the judges in the statutes of the Tribunals.
