Efforts in this direction resulted in three reports: on modalities of cooperation in development of shared water resources; on the establishment of a regional committee on natural resources; and on the progress achieved in the implementation of the Mar del Plata Action Plan.

11. The Committee on Natural Resources has conducted periodic reviews of problems and issues in the field of water resources development and management in the context of the Mar del Plata Action Plan, and more recently in the context of chapter 18 of Agenda 21.
١١ - ولقد أجرت اللجنة المعنية بالموارد الطبيعية استعراضات دورية للمشاكل والقضايا في ميدان تطوير وإدارة موارد المياه في سياق خطة عمل مار دل بلاتا ومؤخرا في سياق الفصل ٨١ من جدول أعمال القرن ١٢.

Other major recent outputs of the Subcommittee include the publication of various regional water resources assessments in 1991, in connection with the implementation of the Mar del Plata Action Plan, the organization of the International Conference on Water and the Environment in 1992,4 and the above-mentioned Comprehensive Assessment of the Freshwater Resources of the World.

72. The information available as well as previous evaluations of progress in the implementation of the recommendations of the Mar del Plata Action Plan suggests that while there has been progress in several areas, very serious problems persist, and in some cases those problems are becoming alarming.
٢٧ - توحي المعلومات المتوفرة، كما توحي عمليات التقييم السابقة للتقدم المحرز في تنفيذ توصيات برنامج عمل مار دل بلاتا: بأنه في حين حصل تقدم في مجالات عديدة. فإن المشاكل الخطيرة جدا لا تزال قائمة، وفي بعض الحالات أصبحت تلك المشاكل مزعجة.

1. At its second session, the Committee on Natural Resources noted with concern the slow pace of progress in the implementation of recommendations of the Mar del Plata Action Plan and Agenda 21.
١ - أحاطت لجنة الموارد الطبيعية في دورتها الثانية علما مع القلق بتباطؤ خُطى التقدم المحرز في تنفيذ توصيات خطة عمل مار دل بلاتا وجدول أعمال القرن ٢١.

65. The Subcommittee has overall responsibility for the coordination of water resources activities of the United Nations system, in particular for follow-up of the Mar del Plata Action Plan and the Dublin Statements, and acts as the task manager for chapter 18 of Agenda 21.
٦٥ - تتمثل المسؤولية العامة لهذه اللجنة الفرعية في تنسيق أنشطة منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة في مجال الموارد المائية، وبخاصة في متابعة خطة عمل مار دل بلاتا وبيان دبلن، وتقوم بدور مدير المهام للفصل ١٨ من جدول أعمال القرن ٢١.

92. The monitoring of progress in the implementation of the Mar del Plata Action Plan, and the process leading to the International Conference on Water and the Environment in Dublin and to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development have yielded further understanding of the need to take a more comprehensive approach to water resources.
٩٢ - وقد تولد عن رصد التقدم المحرز في تنفيذ خطة عمل مار دل بلاتا، والعملية التي أفضت إلى المؤتمر الدولي المعني بالمياه والبيئة المعقود في دبلن وإلى مؤتمر اﻷمم المتحدة المعني بالبيئة والتنمية مزيد من التفهم للحاجة إلى اعتماد نَهج أكثر شمولا فيما يتعلق بموارد المياه.
