والجهود الدؤوبة التي تبذلها الدول اﻷعضاء في المنطقة تبلورت في القيام، عام ١٩٨٨، بإنشاء آلية لرصد إلقاء النفايات لمنع إلقاء النفايات المشعة والخطرة في المنطقة، وخاصة في منطقة غرب أفريقيا دون اﻹقليمية.

(a) The first objective is to increase the understanding of the Member States of the region of the conceptual and practical problems that they will face as they move forward in the implementation of the integration agreements already entered into or those which may be concluded in the future.
)أ( يتمثل الهدف اﻷول في زيادة فهم الدول اﻷعضاء في المنطقة للمشاكل المفاهيمية والعملية التي ستواجهها في تقدمها نحو تنفيذ اتفاقات التكامل التي انضمت إليها بالفعل، أو تلك التي يمكن أن تُبرم في المستقبل.

(a) The first objective is to increase the understanding of the Member States of the region of the conceptual and practical problems that they will face as they move forward in the implementation of the integration agreements already entered into or those which may be concluded in the future and to provide support at the operational level to States of the region in their efforts to address these problems.
)أ( يتمثل الهدف اﻷول في زيادة فهم الدول اﻷعضاء في المنطقة للمشاكل المفاهيمية والعملية التي ستواجهها في تقدمها نحو تنفيذ اتفاقات التكامل التي انضمت إليها بالفعل، أو تلك التي يمكن أن تُبرم في المستقبل وتوفير الدعم على المستوى التنفيذي لدول المنطقة فيما تبذله من جهود لمعالجة تلك المشاكل.
