It was re-established for a period of 13 months on 25 July 2012 by Security Council resolution 2060 (2012), in paragraph 14 of which the Council requested the Secretary-General to take the necessary measures to re-establish the Monitoring Group, consisting of eight experts, drawing on the expertise of the members of the Monitoring Group established pursuant to resolution 2002 (2011).

By paragraph 8 of resolution 1455 (2003) the Secretary-General was requested to reappoint, in consultation with the Committee, five experts for a further period of 12 months, drawing as much as possible, and as appropriate, on the expertise of the members of the Monitoring Group established pursuant to resolution 1363 (2001).

29. The Security Council, in paragraph 8 of resolution 1455 (2003), requested the Secretary-General, upon adoption of the resolution and acting in consultation with the Committee, to reappoint five experts, drawing, as much as possible and as appropriate, on the expertise of the members of the Monitoring Group established pursuant to paragraph 4 (a) of resolution 1363 (2001).

Urges the Federal Government of Somalia, all other parties and States, as well as international, regional and subregional organizations, including AMISOM, to ensure cooperation with the Monitoring Group, and ensure the safety of the members of the Monitoring Group, unhindered access, in particular to persons, documents and sites the Monitoring Group deems relevant to the execution of its mandate;
