وأوضح أن القرار سوف يساعد البلدين المتضررين، وهما سورية ولبنان، على التعامل مع أثر البقعة النفطية.

As the Second Committee's mandate unequivocally included sustainable development issues, Israel's assertion that the Committee was not authorized to deal with the issue of the oil slick was demonstrably false.
وبما أن ولاية اللجنة الثانية تتضمن بصورة قاطعة قضايا إنمائية، فإن مزاعم إسرائيل بأن اللجنة غير مخولة معالجة مشكلة البقعة النفطية هي مزاعم يمكن إثبات بطلانها.

During the current session, the Assembly must therefore make every effort to convey to Israel its clear condemnation and outright rejection of such hostile and irresponsible behaviour and reiterate the demand that Israel assume responsibility for providing Lebanon and the Syrian Arab Republic with prompt and adequate compensation for the environmental damage caused by the spread of the oil slick.
ولذا يتعين على الجمعية أن تبذل خلال الدورة الراهنة ما في وسعها لأن توجه إلى إسرائيل إدانتها الواضحة لهذا التصرف العدواني البعيد عن روح المسؤولية وكذلك رفضها القاطع له، وأن تكرر تأكيد طلبها بأن تضطلع إسرائيل بالمسؤولية عن تقديم تعويض فوري وكاف إلى لبنان والجمهورية العربية السورية عن الضرر البيئي الناشئ عن انتشار البقعة النفطية.

The Committee should give due attention to the topic and highlight Israel's disregard for General Assembly resolutions requesting it to assume responsibility for prompt and adequate compensation to the Governments of Lebanon and the Syrian Arab Republic for the effects of the oil slick, which had been caused by a barbaric Israeli strike on the Jiyeh power plant.
وهي تشدد على ضرورة أن تولي اللجنة هذا الموضوع كل الاهتمام المطلوب، وأن تبرز تجاهل إسرائيل لقرارات الجمعية العامة القاضية بضرورة تحملها مسؤولية تقديم تعويض عاجل وكاف لحكومتي لبنان والجمهورية العربية السورية عن الأضرار التي لحقت بشواطئهما من جراء إنتشار البقعة النفطية التي نجمت عن القصف الإسرائيلي الهمجي على محطة الجية اللبنانية لتوليد الكهرباء.
