7. On 27 January, Mr. Clerides sent me a letter in which he reaffirmed his acceptance of the package of confidence-building measures and set out his assessment of the situation taking into account Mr. Denktaş's letter of 20 January.

5. The Secretary-General informed the Security Council in his interim report of 4 April (S/1994/380) that the intense efforts of the previous weeks had not yielded agreement on the modalities for the implementation of the package of confidence-building measures.
