Article 15 of the Personal Status Law granted the girl's guardian the right to enter her in the marriage contract if she was considered of childbearing age.
المادة 15 من قانون الأحوال الشخصية يمنح الوصي على الفتاة الحق في إدخالها في عقد الزواج إذا اعتبرت في سن حمل الأطفال.

Consent is a fundamental element in the marriage contract, and women have complete freedom in their choice of spouse. A marriage is concluded only with the consent and free will of the woman, as established under article 6 of the Personal Status Law.
يعتبر الرضا ركن أساسي في العقد، وللمرأة الحرية التامة في اختيار الزوج ولا ينعقد الزواج إلا برضاها وإرادتها الحرة وعلى هذا أكدت المادة 6 من قانون الأحوال الشخصية.

328.2 In the Druze community, despite the fact that article 14 of the Personal Status Law does not stipulate that witnesses to a marriage must be male, customary practice so requires.
328-2- عند الطائفة الدرزيّة، وبالرغم من أن نصّ المادة 14 من قانون الأحوال الشخصية لا يحدّد أن يكون الشهود على عقد الزواج من الذكور، فإن عرفاً يقضي بذلك.

Special attention should be paid to amendment of article 6 of the Personal Status Law that defined marriage as a commitment between spouses through a legal contract under which a man " enjoyed his woman lawfully " .
وينبغي إيلاء اهتمام خاص لتعديل المادة 6 من قانون الأحوال الشخصية الذي يعرّف الزواج بأنه التزام بين الزوج والزوجة عن طريق عقد قانوني وفقا له " يتمتع الرجل بامرأته قانونا " .

238. A woman has the freedom to choose her life partner and a marriage may only be contracted with her agreement. This is the first principal of marriage, as stated in articles 16 and 17 of the Personal Status Law.
238- للمرأة الحرّية في اختيار شريك حياتها؛ فلا ينعقد الزواج إلاّ بموافقتها، ويعتبر هذا الركن الأول من أركان الزواج، وفق ما أشارت إليه المادتان 16، 17 من قانون الأحوال الشخصية.

The Committee is also concerned about the discriminatory nature of article 23 of the Personal Status Law, which states that in matters of marriage, a " virgin's silence " signifies consent.
ويساور اللجنة القلق أيضاً إزاء الطبيعة التمييزية للمادة 23 من قانون الأحوال الشخصية التي تنص، فيما يتعلق بأمور الزواج، على أن " سكوت البكر " علامة على رضاها.

327.2 Among the Druze, difference of religion is considered an impediment to marriage; the agreement of her guardian is required for the marriage of a woman up to the age of 21 (article 6 of the Personal Status Law of the Druze community).
327-2- لدى الطائفة الدرزيّة، يُعتبر اختلاف الدين من موانع الزواج، كما تلزم موافقـة الولي على زواج المرأة حتى سنّ الحادي والعشرين( المادة 6 من قانون الأحوال الشخصية للطائفة الدرزية).

226. In relation to the child's identity and his right to know his legitimate parents, the law stipulates that adoption in Lebanon does not deprive the adopted child from his/her relation with his/her legitimate parents (Article 107 of the Personal Status Law for the Catholic sects).
