At the same session, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to improve further the quality, including the conciseness and clarity, of the reports on the implementation of the recommendations of the Unit (decision 54/454).

In subparagraph (d) of its decision of 20 November 1975, the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to give priority to the implementation of the recommendations of the Unit approved by legislative bodies and to provide adequate information thereon in his annual reports.

In addition to the documents listed in A/54/507, the Committee had before it the report of the Joint Inspection Unit for the period from 1 July 1997 to 31 December 1998 Official Records of the General Assembly, Fifty-fourth Session, Supplement No. 34 (A/54/34). and the report of the Secretary-General on the implementation of the recommendations of the Unit (A/54/223).
