The United Nations General Assembly, under the programme dealing with the establishment of nuclear-weapon-free zones, has for several decades been urging States of the region of the Middle East to accede to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
ما فتئت الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، من خلال البرنامج المعني بموضوع إنشاء مناطق خالية من الأسلحة النووية، منذ عدة عقود تشجع دول منطقة الشرق الأوسط على الانضمام إلى معاهدة عدم انتشار الأسلحة النووية.

The Committee is particularly grateful to him for his constant concern for that question and for his pivotal role in the quest for peace and reconciliation between Palestinians and Israelis and among all the peoples of the region of the Middle East.
وتشعر الجمعية بالامتنان الخاص له على اهتمامه المتواصل بتلك القضية وعلى دوره المحوري في السعي إلى السلام والمصالحة بين الفلسطينيين والإسرائيليين وفيما بين جميع شعوب منطقة الشرق الأوسط.

The Secretariat document also mentioned that all States of the region of the Middle East, with the exception of Israel, were States parties to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and reaffirmed the importance of Israel's accession to the non-proliferation Treaty and the placing of all its nuclear facilities under comprehensive IAEA safeguards with a view to achieving the goal of arriving at universal adherence to the Treaty in the Middle East.
كما أشارت الوثيقة إلى انضمام كافة دول منطقة الشرق الأوسط إلى معاهدة عدم انتشار الأسلحة النووية باستثناء إسرائيل. وأكدت مجددا أهمية انضمام إسرائيل إلى معاهدة عدم الانتشار ووضع جميع مرافقها النووية تحت الضمانات الشاملة للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية، في تحقيق الهدف المتمثل في الوصول إلى الانضمام الكامل للمعاهدة في الشرق الأوسط.

The Conference notes, in this connection, that the report of the United Nations Secretariat on the implementation of the 1995 resolution on the Middle East (NPT/CONF.2000/7) states that several States have acceded to the Treaty and that, with these accessions, all States of the region of the Middle East, with the exception of Israel, are States parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
ويلاحظ المؤتمر، في هذا الصدد، أن تقرير الأمانة العامة للأمم المتحدة عن تنفيذ القرار المتخذ في عام 1995 بشأن الشرق الأوسط (NPT/CONF.2000/7) يذكر أن عددا من الدول انضمت إلى المعاهدة، وأنه بانضمامها، أصبحت دول منطقة الشرق الأوسط جميعها، باستثناء إسرائيل، دولاً أطرافاً في معاهدة عدم انتشار الأسلحة النووية.
