4. Within IAEA, Morocco is engaged in promoting the application of the safeguards regime throughout the Middle East region, because it believes that this is an international security measure which should affect all States of the world.

In this regard, Egypt strongly urges all countries of the region to accede to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and accept the application of the safeguards regime of the International Atomic Energy Agency. This, if it takes place, will be a major step towards peace and reconciliation in the Middle East that would safeguard against any setbacks in future regional relations.
وإعمالا لذلك تدعو مصر بكل اصرار الى الانضمام اﻹقليمي الكامل الى معاهدة عدم اﻹنتشار النووي، وقبول تطبيق نظام الضمانات الشاملة للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية، اﻷمر الذي إن تم سيشكل خطوة رئيسية تدفع بجهود السلام والمصالحة في الشرق اﻷوسط الى آفاق جديدة، وتمنع حدوث انتكاسات في العلاقات اﻹقليمية في المستقبل.

This, however, can be done only if Israel accedes to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), submits all its nuclear facilities to the comprehensive safeguards regime of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and abides by Security Council resolution 487 (1981). That resolution explicitly demands that Israel immediately place its nuclear facilities under the supervision of the safeguards regime of the IAEA.
ومن هذا المنطلق، فان ذلك لن يتحقق إلا بانضمام إسرائيل إلى معاهدة عدم انتشار الأسلحة النووية ووضع جميع منشآتها النووية تحت نظام الضمانات الشاملة للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية والانصياع لقرار مجلس الأمن 487 (1981)، الذي طالب إسرائيل صراحة وعلى وجه السرعة بوضع منشآتها النووية تحت إشراف نظام الضمانات للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية.
