I have the honour to forward to you, on behalf of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity, the communiqué on the situation in Angola issued by the Central Organ of the Organization of African Unity Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution.

The views of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity
آراء اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية

At the request of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), an urgent meeting of the Central Organ of the Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution, at the ambassadorial level, was convened today to consider the situation prevailing in Burundi.
بناء على طلب اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية، عُقد اليوم، على مستوى السفراء، اجتماع طارئ للجهاز المركزي ﻵلية منع المنازعات وإدارتها وحلها وذلك للنظر في الحالة السائدة في بوروندي.

We consider also that the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity and the States of the region will enable us to do useful work to that end. Finally, we hope that close cooperation will be established between the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity in order to achieve a solution as soon as possible to the present crisis in Burundi.
وترى أيضا أن الجهود التي يبذلها اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻹفريقية والدول في المنطقة ستمكننا من القيام بعمل مفيد لتحقيق هذا الهدف، وأخيرا نأمل في إقامة تعاون وثيق بين اﻷمم المتحدة ومنظمة الوحدة الافريقية من أجل التوصل إلى حل لﻷزمة الراهنة في بوروندي في أقرب وقت ممكن.

The sincere gratitude of my people and Government goes to my Central American colleagues, to the representatives of the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States, to the Catholic Church and to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, who have contributed so much to peace and reconciliation in Nicaragua.

The following also participated in the work of the meeting: the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations; the representative of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU); and the Secretary-General of the Central African Customs and Economic Union (CACEU)/CEMAC.
٣ - واشترك أيضا في أعمال اللجنة: ممثل اﻷمين العام لﻷمم المتحدة، وممثل اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية، واﻷمين العام للاتحاد الجمركي لدول وسط أفريقيا.

4. The following participated in the work of the meeting as observers: the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations; the representative of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU); the representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); and the representative of the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation.

The operative part of the draft resolution expresses appreciation to the Secretary-General for his initiative in convening a meeting between the United Nations and the heads of regional organizations, with the participation of the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States, and expresses satisfaction at the cooperation between the two organizations and the development of the electoral processes in Haiti and Nicaragua, respectively.

I have the honour to forward to you, on behalf of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity, the communiqué on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo issued by the Central Organ of the Organization of African Unity Mechanism for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution, at its fiftieth ordinary session, at the ambassadorial level, held at Addis Ababa on 17 August 1998.

1. Expresses its appreciation to the Secretary-General for his initiative in convening a meeting between the United Nations and the heads of regional organizations on 15 and 16 February 1996, welcomes the participation of the Secretary-General of the Organization of American States in that meeting, and recommends that similar meetings be held more frequently;
١ - تعرب عن تقديرها لﻷمين العام لمبادرته بعقد اجتماع بين ممثلي اﻷمم المتحدة ورؤساء المنظمات اﻹقليمية في ١٥ و ١٦ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٦، وترحب بمشاركة اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الدول اﻷمريكية في هذا الاجتماع، وتوصي بعقد اجتماعات مماثلة بمزيد من التواتر؛

The representative of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) to the Ministerial Workshop appealed to member States to pay their financial dues to the Institute so that it might implement its mandate and carry out its activities more effectively and efficiently.
وناشد ممثل اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية في حلقة العمل الوزارية الدول اﻷعضاء دفع اﻷموال المستحقة عليها للمعهد حتى يتمكن من تنفيذ ولايته والاضطلاع بأنشطته بمزيد من الفعالية والكفاءة. ثانيا - اﻷنشطة البرنامجية

15. Requests the Secretary-General to support the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity with a view to holding sectoral meetings on the priority areas of cooperation, and in particular to support those meetings organized by the Economic and Social Council of the African Economic Community;
٥١ - تطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يدعم جهود اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية الرامية إلى عقد اجتماعات قطاعية بشأن مجالات التعاون ذات اﻷولوية وأن يدعم بوجه خاص الاجتماعات التي ينظمها المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي التابع للجماعة الاقتصادية اﻷفريقية؛

They met in Geneva from 10 to 17 July 1993, with the help of representatives of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity and the Executive Secretariat of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and of the Acting President of that Community, to seek ways and means of silencing the weapons of war and restoring peace to their country.
فقد التقوا في جنيف في الفترة من ١٠ إلى ١٧ تموز/يوليه ١٩٩٣، بمساعدة من ممثلي اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة الافريقية واﻷمانة التنفيذية للجماعة الاقتصادية لدول غربي افريقيا والقائم برئاسة هذه الجماعة، من أجل السعي ﻹيجاد السبل والوسائل الكفيلة بإسكات أسلحة الحرب واستعادة السلم في بلدانهم.

15. Requests the Secretary-General to continue to support the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity with a view to holding sectoral meetings on the priority areas of cooperation, particularly the establishment of the African Economic Community and the strengthening of the African regional and subregional organizations;
١٥ - تطلب إلى اﻷمين العام أن يواصل دعم جهود اﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة الافريقية بغية عقد اجتماعات قطاعية بشأن مجالات التعاون ذات اﻷولوية، ولا سيما إنشاء الجماعة الاقتصادية الافريقية وتعزيز المنظمات الافريقية اﻹقليمية ودون اﻹقليمية؛

He also held discussions with the Special Representative a.i. of the Secretary-General of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and with a number of representatives of non-governmental associations engaged in the promotion of the status of women and of the protection of the rights of children.
وأجرى المقرر الخاص أيضا مناقشات مع نائب الممثل الخاص لﻷمين العام لمنظمة الوحدة اﻷفريقية ومع عدد من ممثلي الرابطات غير الحكومية العاملة في مجال تعزيز مركز المرأة وحماية حقوق الطفل.
