" ٥ - وأولت اللجنة المشتركة اهتماما خاصا للنظر في المسائل المتصلة بحماية البيئة البحرية في جنوب غرب المحيط اﻷطلسي.

As a first step, the Commission recommended carrying out a survey on the condition of the marine environment in the Special Cooperation Area, mindful of the common interest of both sides in fulfilling the mandate of the Commission to submit recommendations on the protection of the marine environment of the South-West Atlantic.
وكخطوة أولى، أوصت اللجنة بإجراء مسح لحالة البيئة البحرية في منطقة التعاون الخاصة، واضعة في اعتبارها المصالح المشتركة للطرفين في أدائها لمهمتها في تقديم توصيات بشأن حماية البيئة البحرية في جنوب غرب المحيط اﻷطلسي.

The second workshop, entitled " Protection of the High Seas Marine Biodiversity in the South West Pacific: Role of Marine Protected Areas " , to be hosted by Australia in April 2001, will build on the results of the German workshop and apply them to the specific circumstances of the South-West Pacific.
وسوف تنطلق الحلقة الدراسية الثانية التي تنعقد في استراليا في نيسان/أبريل 2001 تحت عنوان " حماية التنوع البيولوجي البحري في أعالي البحار في جنوب غربي المحيط الهادئ - دور المناطق البحرية المحمية " من نتائج حلقة العمل الألمانية وتطبقها على ظروف محددة في جنوب غربي المحيط الهادئ.

The two delegations referred to further issues related to fisheries cooperation and they concurred that the timely establishment of a multilateral agreement would provide the necessary long-term mechanism to ensure the sustainability of fish stocks in the high seas of the South-West Atlantic.
وأشار الوفدان إلى مسائل أخرى تتعلق بالتعاون في مجال مصائد الأسماك واتفقا على أن التبكير بابرام اتفاقات متعددة الأطراف سيوفر الآلية الطويلة المدى اللازمة لضمان استدامة الأرصدة السمكية في أعالي بحار جنوب غربي المحيط الأطلسي.

وتبادلت اللجنة أيضا وجهات النظر بشأن مسائل أخرى تتصل بالتعاون على حفظ مصائد الأسماك. واتفقا على أن التبكير بإبرام اتفاقات متعددة الأطراف سيوفر الآلية الطويلة المدى اللازمة لضمان استدامة الأرصدة السمكية في أعالي بحار جنوب غربي المحيط الأطلسي.
