The delegation included the heads of the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs and the General Women's Union, in addition to representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Syrian Women for Peace Initiative and the Permanent Mission of the Syrian Arab Republic to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

14. The Committee welcomes the establishment in 2003 of the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs as the coordinating authority for the implementation of the Convention and commends the numerous studies and activities it has conducted since its establishment.

35. With regard to the membership of the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs, the Chairperson, a position which she currently held, had the authority of a minister, reported to the Prime Minister and attended all Cabinet meetings on issues relating to the family, women and children.
35 - وفيما يتعلق بعضوية الهيئة السورية لشؤون الأسرة، فإن لدى رئيسة الهيئة، وهي الوظيفة التي تشغلها هي حالياً، سلطة الوزير، وهي مسؤولة أمام رئيس الوزراء وتحضر جميع اجتماعات مجلس الوزراء بشأن القضايا المتعلقة بالأسرة والمرأة والطفل.

The proposal of the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs is being considered by the competent Ministries (Awqaf, Justice and Foreign Affairs) and also by a number of authorities on Islamic jurisprudence with a view to a decision on the matter.
- تجري دراسة مقترح الهيئة السورية لشؤون الأسرة من قبل الوزارات المختصة (الأوقاف، العدل، الخارجية) وكذلك طلب بعض المرجعيات الفقهية، لاتخاذ قرار في هذا الصدد.
