In that regard, Thailand, as the depositary State of the Treaty of Bangkok and current Chairman of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN), appealed to the nuclear-weapon States to exercise greater flexibility in the discussions on the Protocol to that Treaty.

Likewise, it was proposed that the Vice-Presidencies should be held by the Representatives of Cuba, on behalf of the States Parties to the Treaty of Tlatelolco; New Zealand, for the Treaty of Rarotonga; and Senegal, for the Treaty of Pelindaba, while the post of Rapporteur would be occupied by Indonesia, in representation of the Treaty of Bangkok.

16. Since the signing of the Treaty of Bangkok in 1995, the States parties have pursued the goal of constructively engaging in consultations with the five nuclear-weapon States with a view to encouraging the latter to sign the Protocol to the Treaty as early as possible.

22. The executive organs at all levels of the Treaty of Bangkok as well as the relevant ASEAN sectoral bodies have made a strong political commitment to continue to explore various ways and means of achieving further progress in the implementation of the Treaty and its Plan of Action in the years to come.
22 - وأعربت الأجهزة التنفيذية لمعاهدة بانكوك على مستويات المعاهدة جميعها، وكذا الهيئات القطاعية ذات الصلة في رابطة أمم جنوب شرق آسيا، عن التزامها السياسي القوي بمواصلة استطلاع طرائق ووسائل مختلفة لتحقيق مزيد من التقدم في تنفيذ المعاهدة وخطة عملها في السنوات المقبلة.

2. The key goals of the Treaty of Bangkok are to uphold peace and stability while ensuring nuclear non-proliferation in the South-East Asian region, and to commit the full support of the States parties to the Treaty to the three main pillars of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, namely nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear disarmament and the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
