20. ESCAP provided technical support to the Mekong River Commission in the fields of water and mineral resources and in space applications, and participated in their sessions and donor meetings.

In addition to the items concerning the election of officers and the adoption of the agenda (items 1 and 2), issues related to activities of the United Nations system in the field of water and mineral resources, and inter-agency coordination (item 3) and review and recasting of the recommendations made by the Committee at its first session (item 4) would be dealt with in plenary meeting as they are relevant to both mineral and water resources.
وبالاضافة الى البندين المتعلقين بانتخاب أعضاء المكتب وإقرار جدول اﻷعمال )البندان ١ و ٢(، سيجري تناول المسائل المتصلة بأنشطة منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة في ميدان الموارد المائية والموارد المعدنية والتنسيق بين الوكالات )البند ٣( واستعراض التوصيات التي قدمتها اللجنة في دورتها اﻷولى وإعادة صياغتها )البند ٤( في جلسة عامة باعتبارها تتصل بكل من الموارد المعدنية والمائية.

4. The Committee wishes to draw to the attention of the Economic and Social Council the importance of water and mineral resources programmes in the context of sustainable development, and commends the work done by the Secretariat in providing support to the Committee.
٤ - وتود اللجنة أن توجه انتباه المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي الى أهمية برامج المياه والموارد المعدنية في سياق التنمية المستدامة، وتثني على اﻷعمال التي أنجزتها اﻷمانة العامة في مجال تقديم الدعم للجنة.
