3. At the 46th meeting, on 27 July, the Council was informed that the report on the implementation of General Assembly resolution 48/162 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields would be submitted to the General Assembly at its forty-ninth session.
٣ - وفي الجلسة ٤٦ المعقودة في ٢٧ تموز/يوليه، أبلغ المجلس بأن التقرير المتعلق بتنفيذ قرار الجمعية العامة ٤٨/١٦٢ بشأن التدابير اﻷخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما سيقدم الى الجمعية العامة في دورتها التاسعة واﻷربعين.

5. By its resolution 1998/46 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields, the Council:
٥ - وبموجب القرار ١٩٩٨/٤٦ الذي أصدره المجلس بشأن اتخاذ تدابير أخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما فإن المجلس:

20. The attention of the Council is drawn to General Assembly resolution 48/162 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields, in particular annex I, paragraph 14, concerning the coordination segment.
٢٠ - ويوجه انتباه المجلس الى قرار الجمعية العامة ٤٨/١٦٢ بشأن التدابير اﻹضافية ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في المجالين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والمجالات المتصلة بهما، وخاصة الفقرة ١٤ من المرفق اﻷول التي تتناول الجزء المتعلق بالتنسيق.

إذ يشير إلى قرار الجمعية العامة ٠٥/٠٢١ المؤرخ ٠٢ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ٥٩٩١، بشأن الاستعراض الذي يجري كل ثلاث سنوات لسياسة اﻷنشطة التنفيذية من أجل التنمية التي تضطلع بها منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة وقرارها ٠٥/٧٢٢ المؤرخ ٤٢ أيار/مايو ٦٩٩١ بشأن اتخاذ مزيد من التدابير ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما،

At its substantive session of 1998, the Council adopted resolution 1998/46 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields.
واتخذ المجلس في دورته الموضوعية لعام ١٩٩٨ القرار ١٩٩٨/٤٦ بشأن تدابير أخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما.

At its fiftieth session, the General Assembly adopted resolution 50/227 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields.
اعتمدت الجمعية العامة في دورتها الخمسين القرار ٥٠/٢٢٧ بشأن تدابير أخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما.

A first step in that direction had already been taken with the adoption of General Assembly resolution 50/227 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields, under which a mechanism had been established to enable the Council to enhance the efficiency of its work and to focus its efforts on the achievement of tangible results.

Chapter II of the report contains information on the implementation of Assembly resolution 48/162 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields, in which the Assembly called for a comprehensive review of the implementation of the resolution, as well as of decisions on financing, at its fiftieth session.
ويحتوي الفصل الثاني من التقرير على معلومات عن تنفيذ قرار الجمعية ٤٨/١٦٢ بشأن تدابير أخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما، الذي طلبت فيه الجمعية إجراء استعراض شامل لتنفيذ القرار، فضلا عن القرارات المتعلقة بالتمويل، في دورتها الخمسين.

1. General Assembly resolution 48/162 of 20 December 1993 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields provides for a comprehensive review of the implementation of the resolution, as well as of decisions on financing, at the fiftieth session of the Assembly.
١ - ينص قرار الجمعية العامة ٨٤/١٦٢ المؤرخ ٠٢ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٣ بشأن تدابير أخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما على إجراء استعراض شامل لتنفيذ القرار فضلا عن المقررات المتعلقة بالتمويل، في الدورة الخمسين للجمعية.

Members will recall that at the 85th plenary meeting of its forty-eighth session, on 20 December 1993, the General Assembly adopted resolution 48/162 on “Further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields”.
يتذكر اﻷعضاء أن الجمعية العامة في الجلسة العامة الخامسة والثمانين لدورتها الثامنة واﻷربعين المعقودة بتاريخ ٢٠ كانـــون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٣ اتخــذت القرار ٤٨/١٦٢ بشأن " تدابير أخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحـــدة وتنشيطهـــا فـــي الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما " .

3. In accordance with paragraph 15 of annex I to Economic and Social Council resolution 1998/46 of 31 July 1998 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields, the Committee comprised two sub-groups, one on energy and one on water resources.
٣ - ووفقا للفقرة ١٥ من المرفق اﻷول لقرار المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي ١٩٩٨/٤٦ المؤرخ ٣١ تموز/ يوليه ١٩٩٨ بشأن التدابير اﻷخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما، ضمت اللجنة فريقين فرعيين، أحدهما معني بالطاقة واﻵخر معني بموارد المياه.

It may be recalled that General Assembly resolution 48/162 of 20 December 1993 on further measures for the restructuring and revitalization of the United Nations in the economic, social and related fields provided for a comprehensive review of the implementation of that resolution, as well as of decisions on financing, at the fiftieth session of the Assembly.
٣ - وجدير باﻹشارة أن قرار الجمعية العامة ٤٨/١٦٢ المؤرخ ٢٠ كانون اﻷول/ ديسمبر ١٩٩٣ بشأن التدابير اﻷخرى ﻹعادة تشكيل اﻷمم المتحدة وتنشيطها في المجالين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي والميادين المتصلة بهما نص على إجراء استعراض شامل لتنفيذ ذلك القرار، فضلا عن المقررات المتعلقة بالتمويل التي اتخذت في الدورة الخمسين للجمعية العامة.
