8. In its resolution 1998/60, the Commission requested the Secretary—General to report to the Commission at its fifty—fifth session on the role of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in assisting the Government and people of Cambodia in the promotion and protection of human rights and on the recommendations made by the Special Representative on matters within his mandate.

The present report is submitted in accordance with General Assembly resolution 51/98, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report on the recommendations made by the Special Representative on matters within his mandate, and on the role of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in assisting the Government and the people of Cambodia in the promotion and protection of human rights.

The General Assembly, in its resolution 49/199 of 23 December 1994, entitled " Situation of human rights in Cambodia " , requested the Secretary-General to report to the General Assembly at its fiftieth session on the recommendations made by the Special Representative on matters within his mandate.
٤ - وطلبت الجمعية العامة، إلى اﻷمين العام، في قرارها ٤٩/١٩٩ المؤرخ ٢٣ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٤ والمعنون " حالة حقوق اﻹنسان في كمبوديا " ، أن يقدم تقريرا إلى الجمعية العامة في دورتها الخمسين عن توصيات الممثل الخاص بشأن المسائل المشمولة بولايته.
