In view of the new methods of work adopted by the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations at its 1997 resumed session, it is expected that the volume of documentation circulated by the Section to members of the Committee and to the relevant non-governmental organizations prior to the session of the Committee will increase substantially.

At its 56th plenary meeting, on 20 November 1996, the Council welcomed the initiative of the Secretariat to prepare, for the information of Member States, an assessment on ways and means to deal with the documentation requests emanating from the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations at its session in 1997.

13. At its 2nd meeting, the Council decided that the two days not used by the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations at its 2005 regular session would be added to its two-week resumed session to be held in May 2005, on the understanding that conference services for those two days would be provided on an as-available basis.

At its 2nd plenary meeting, on 4 February 2005, the Economic and Social Council decided that the two days not used by the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations at its 2005 regular session would be added to its two-week resumed session to be held in May 2005, on the understanding that conference services for those two days would be provided on an as-available basis.

The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations, at its 2002 regular session held from 13 to 30 May 2002, considered the special reports submitted by France Libertés: Fondation Danielle Mitterand and the Movement against Racism and for Friendship among Peoples, as well as a complaint lodged against the Transnational Radical Party (see E/2002/71 (Part II), sect.
