55. On 25 June 2014, the Chairs held informal consultations with States parties regarding General Assembly resolution 68/268 on strengthening and enhancing the effective functioning of the human rights treaty body system.

It was therefore recommended that the General Assembly decide to extend its intergovernmental process on strengthening and enhancing the effective functioning of the human rights treaty body system to its sixty-seventh session.
