35. On 20 June, the negotiations produced the agreement on Temporary Arrangements for the administration and security of the Abyei Area, which called for the demilitarization of the Abyei Area and the deployment of a peacekeeping force, UNISFA, under a Chapter VII mandate.

With regard to Abyei, the Under-Secretary-General said that no progress had been made in implementing pending aspects of the Agreement on Temporary Arrangements for the Administration and Security of the Abyei Area of 20 June 2011, or in regard to the final status of Abyei.
