94. The delegation of Singapore, which made a proposal on behalf of the Group of Asian States on the allocation of seats on the Commission, made reference to the need to allocate seats equitably in proportion to the number of States parties included in each regional group.
94 - وأشار وفد سنغافورة، الذي تقدم باقتراح باسم مجموعة الدول الآسيوية بشأن توزيع المقاعد في اللجنة، إلى ضرورة توزيع المقاعد بصورة منصفة تتناسب مع عدد الدول الأطراف في كل مجموعة إقليمية.

1. Decides that it will have exhausted all efforts to reach a general agreement, by the nineteenth Meeting of States Parties, on the allocation of seats for the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea;
1 - يقرر أنه سيكون قد استنفد كل الجهود للتوصل إلى اتفاق عام بحلول الاجتماع التاسع عشر للدول الأطراف بشأن توزيع المقاعد في لجنة حدود الجرف القاري والمحكمة الدولية لقانون البحار؛

He also stated that the Group of Western European and other States was of the view that the basis for any decision to be adopted on the allocation of seats might also include other new proposals, apart from the one made by the Group of African States and the Group of Asian States.
وذكر الممثل أيضا أن مجموعة دول أوروبا الغربية ودول أخرى أن الأساس الذي يرتكز إليه اتخاذ أي مقرر بشأن توزيع المقاعد يمكن أن يشمل أيضا مقترحات جديدة أخرى بخلاف المقترح الذي قدمته مجموعة الدول الأفريقية ومجموعة الدول الآسيوية.

8. Other decisions adopted during the Meeting were the following: " Decision on the vacancy in the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf " (SPLOS/181) and the " Decision on the allocation of seats on the Commission and the Tribunal " (SPLOS/182).
8 - وفيما يلي مقرران آخران اتخذا أثناء الاجتماع: " مقرر بشأن المقعد الشاغر في لجنة حدود الجرف القاري " (SPLOS/181) و " مقرر بشأن توزيع المقاعد في اللجنة والمحكمة " (SPLOS/182).

96. At the invitation of the current President, the President of the eighteenth Meeting informed delegations that during the months preceding the nineteenth Meeting, informal consultations on the allocation of seats on the Commission and the Tribunal had been conducted in a spirit of cooperation among the regional groups concerned.
96 - بناء على دعوة من الرئيس الحالي، أبلغ رئيس الاجتماع الثامن عشر الوفود بأنه قد أُجريت مشاورات غير رسمية بشأن توزيع المقاعد في اللجنة والمحكمة خلال الأشهر السابقة للاجتماع التاسع عشر، في روح من التعاون بين المجموعات الإقليمية المعنية.

2. Also decides to adopt a decision, during the commencement of the nineteenth Meeting of States Parties, on the allocation of seats to the Commission and the Tribunal, on the basis, inter alia, of the proposal of the Asian and African States parties contained in document SPLOS/L.56, as follows:
2 - يقرر أيضا اتخاذ مقرر خلال بداية الاجتماع التاسع عشر للدول الأطراف بشأن توزيع المقاعد في اللجنة والمحكمة، على أساس جملة أمور منها اقتراح الدول الأطراف الآسيوية والأفريقية الوارد في الوثيقة SPLOS/L.56:

As those efforts did not yield satisfactory results, the Group of African States and the Group of Asian States introduced a draft decision on the allocation of seats on the Commission and the Tribunal (SPLOS/L.56).
وبالنظر إلى أن تلك الجهود لم تحقق نتائج مرضية، فإن مجموعة الدول الأفريقية ومجموعة الدول الآسيوية قدمتا مشروع مقرر بشأن توزيع المقاعد في اللجنة والمحكمة (SPLOS/L.56).

In concluding, Mr. Croker provided an overview of the decisions adopted by the Meeting on matters of relevance to the Commission, namely, the decision on issues related to the workload of the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (SPLOS/162) and the decision on the allocation of seats on the Commission and the Tribunal (SPLOS/163).

100. The seventeenth Meeting of States Parties adopted a decision on the allocation of seats on the Commission and the Tribunal (SPLOS/163) in which it decided, having considered the two joint proposals from the African and Asian States parties, that " further work on proposals for the allocation of seats would be required to adopt decisions at the commencement of the eighteenth Meeting of States Parties " .
100 - اتخذ الاجتماع السابع عشر للدول الأطراف مقررا بشأن توزيع المقاعد في اللجنة والمحكمة (SPLOS/163)، قرر فيه أنه، وقد نظر في المقترحين المشتركين المقدمين من الدول الأطراف الأفريقية والآسيوية، " سيتعين الاضطلاع بالمزيد من العمل على مقترحات توزيع المقاعد للتمكن من اتخاذ مقررات في هذا الشأن في بداية الاجتماع الثامن عشر " .

102. In the discussion, the Group of African States (represented by Egypt) and the Group of Asian States (represented by the Philippines) reiterated their position on the allocation of seats in the Tribunal and the Commission, as reflected in document SPLOS/163.
102 - وخلال المناقشة، أكدت مجموعة الدول الأفريقية (مثلتها مصر) ومجموعة الدول الآسيوية (مثلتها الفلبين) من جديد موقفها المتعلق بتوزيع المقاعد في المحكمة واللجنة حسبما هو وارد في الوثيقة SPLOS/163.
