Further consultations would therefore be held with the Government of Burundi, the Peacebuilding Support Office, the United Nations Integrated Office in Burundi (BINUB) and agencies such as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on the possibility of holding the meeting on 14 May 2008.

Mr. FALL (Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights) said that in resolution 50/136, the General Assembly had requested the Secretary-General to consult Member States and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations on the possibility of holding a world conference to combat racism.

The representative of the Secretariat explained that consultations had taken place with the Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions on the possibility of holding joint workshops, possibly in the Latin American and Caribbean region. She said that all materials used at the Nairobi workshop were available on the Basel Convention website.
