1. From 15 to 22 December 1995, the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance made a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran under his terms of reference and at the invitation of the Iranian Government.
١- قام المقرر الخاص المعني بالتعصب الديني بزيارة إلى جمهورية إيران اﻹسلامية من ٥١ إلى ٢٢ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ٥٩٩١، في إطار ولايته وبناء على دعوة من الحكومة اﻹيرانية.

These deplorable incidents have been thoroughly investigated and the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the question of religious intolerance has duly been informed of the inquiry.
وقد أجريت تحقيقات وافية في هاتين الحادثتين المؤسفتين وأبلغ المقرر الخاص للجنة حقوق اﻹنسان بشأن مسألة التعصب الديني حسب اﻷصول بهذا التحقيق.

The Special Representative notes that the 1996 report of the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the question of religious intolerance referred to similar doubts among the Christian community at the time.

1. At the invitation of the Indian Government, the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance visited India from 2 to 14 December 1996 in accordance with his mandate.
١- بناء على دعوة من الحكومة الهندية قام المقرر الخاص المعني بمسألة التعصب الديني بزيارة إلى الهند في الفترة من ٢ إلى ٤١ كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ٦٩٩١، في إطار ولايته.

Taking note of General Assembly resolution 49/188 of 23 December 1994, in which it requested the Commission on Human Rights to continue its consideration of measures to implement the Declaration and requested the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance to submit an interim report to the General Assembly at its fiftieth session,

In his 1996 report on the Islamic Republic of Iran (E/CN.4/1996/95/Add.2/para. 116), the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance concluded:

267. The attention of the Sub—Commission is drawn to Commission on Human Rights resolution 1997/18, in which the Commission took note of the report of the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on the question of religious intolerance (E/CN.4/1997/91 and Add.1).

Having examined the reports of the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (E/CN.4/1994/27), the Special Rapporteur on the question of torture (E/CN.4/1994/31), and the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance (E/CN.4/1994/71 and Add.1),

Furthermore, when considering the actions and positions of the Holy See as those of a " country " , it is important to consider the complete role of the Holy See in the international arena as both a religion and a State, as Abdelfattah Amor, Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the question of religious intolerance, has recognized.

(c) The Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance, Mr. Abdelfattah Amor (E/CN.4/2000/65); at the 34th meeting, the Special Rapporteur made his concluding remarks;

The condition of these Churches is described in some detail by the Special Rapporteur of the Commission on Human Rights on the question of religious intolerance in his 1996 report to the Commission after a visit to Iran (E/CN.4/1996/95/Add.2).

The Committee endorses the recommendations made by the Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance following his visit to the State party (E/CN.4/1996/95/Add.2) and recommends that the State party implement them fully.

The Special Rapporteur on the question of religious intolerance was told in December 1995 that " under the Civil Code, conversion was not a crime and that no one had been punished for converting " (E/CN.4/1996/95/Add.2, para. 21).
وكان المقرر الخاص المعني بالتعصب الديني قد أبلغ في كانون اﻷول/ديسمبر ١٩٩٥ " أن اعتناق مذهب آخر لا يعتبر، بموجب القانون المدني، جريمة وأن أحدا لم يعاقب لاعتناقه لدين آخر " )E/CN.4/1996/95/Add.2، الفقرة ٢١(.
