XIII. Ensuring that deprivation of liberty is used only as a measure of last resort and for the shortest appropriate period of time
ثالث عشر- ضمان عدم استخدام التجريد من الحرية إلاَّ كتدبير يُلجأ إليه كملاذ أخير ولأقصر فترة زمنية ملائمة

The arrest, detention or imprisonment of a child may be used only as a measure of last resort (art. 37 (b)).
ولا يجوز اعتقال طفل أو احتجازه أو سجنه إلا في إطار تدبير يتخذ كملجأ أخير (المادة 37(ب)).

Depriving children of their liberty should be used only as a measure of last resort and for the shortest appropriate period of time, in particular before trial.
وينبغي عدم اللجوء إلى حرمان الأطفال من حريتهم إلاّ كملاذ أخير ولأقصر فترة مناسبة، خاصّة قبل المحاكمة.
