Mr. Schori (Sweden), introducing draft decision A/C.6/57/L.23 on behalf of the original sponsors and Guatemala, Liechtenstein and Mauritius, said that the issue had been on the agenda of the General Assembly since 2000, and the sponsors hoped that the Committee would now be able to conclude its consideration of the matter.

1. Ms. Khalil (Egypt), introducing the draft resolution on behalf of the original sponsors and China, Djibouti and Mauritania, said the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories continued to deteriorate at an alarming rate.

5. Mr. Muñoz (Chile), speaking on behalf of the original sponsors and those announced at the 29th meeting, said that the Basic Principles and Guidelines were not legally binding but rather identified mechanisms and procedures for the effective implementation of existing legal obligations under international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

4. Ms. Štiglic (Slovenia), introducing draft resolution A/C.3/53/L.18/Rev.1 on behalf of the original sponsors and Antigua and Barbuda, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pakistan and the Republic of Moldova, expressed the hope that, as in the past, the draft resolution would be adopted by consensus.

1. Mr. Spitzer (United States of America) introduced draft resolution A/C.3/52/L.69 on behalf of the original sponsors and Austria, Norway and Poland. The purpose of the draft resolution was to evaluate the progress made with regard to the situation of human rights in the three countries concerned and to set new goals.
١ - السيد سبيتزر )الولايات المتحدة اﻷمريكية(: قدم مشروع القرار A/C.3/52/L.69 بالنيابة عن مقدميه اﻷصليين ومعهم النمسا والنرويج وبولندا موضحا أن الغرض منه هو تقييم التقدم المحرز في حالة حقوق اﻹنسان في البلدان الثلاثة المعنية ووضع أهداف جديدة بشأنها.

5. Mr. Dapkiunas (Belarus), introducing the draft resolution on behalf of the original sponsors and Ecuador, said that millions of trafficked human beings, mainly women and children, were denied their basic human rights on a daily basis.
5 - السيد دابكيوناس (بيلاروس): عرض مشروع القرار بالنيابة عن مقدميه الأصليين وإكوادور، وقال إن ملايين البشر المُتَّجَر بهم، ومعظمهم من النساء والأطفال، يُحرَمون يومياً من حقوق الإنسان الأساسية.

1. Ms. Feller (Mexico) introduced the draft resolution, on behalf of the original sponsors and Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Chile, Ecuador, Israel, Japan, Panama, Peru, the Philippines, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tajikistan and Turkey.

99. Mr. Nikiforov (Russian Federation), introducing the draft resolution on behalf of the original sponsors and Kazakhstan and Ukraine, said that hostage-taking remained an urgent problem which his Government had experienced first hand.
99 - السيد نيكيفوروف (الاتحاد الروسي): قدَّم مشروع القرار نيابة عن مقدميه الأصليين وكازاخستان وأوكرانيا، وقال إن أخذ الرهائن لا يزال يمثل مشكلة عاجلة تعاني منها حكومته بشكل مباشر.

13. Ms. Morgan (Mexico), introducing draft resolution A/C.2/68/L.13 on behalf of the original sponsors and also Cuba, China and Ukraine, said that the initiative had come from the scientific community.

3. Ms. Enkhtsetseg (Mongolia) introduced the draft resolution on behalf of the original sponsors and also Brazil, China, Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar, Switzerland and Timor-Leste.

24. Mr. Gómez Robledo (Mexico), introducing the draft resolution on behalf of the original sponsors and also Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malta and Poland, said that terrorism was a serious problem for the territorial integrity and security of States.

2. Ms. Monroy (Mexico), introduced draft resolution A/C.3/55/L.29, entitled " International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families " , on behalf of the original sponsors and Bolivia, Nicaragua and Sri Lanka.

69. Mr. Normandin (Canada), introducing draft resolution A/C.3/62/L.43 on behalf of the original sponsors and Fiji and Iceland, said that there has been a continued deterioration in the protection of the human rights of the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran in accordance with that country's international obligations.
69- السيد نورماندين (كندا): عرض مشروع القرار A/C.3/62/L.43 باسم مقدميه الأصليين وفيجي وآيسلندا وقال إنه يحدث تدهور مستمر في حماية حقوق الإنسان لشعب جمهورية إيران الإسلامية وفقاً لالتزامات ذلك البلد الدولية.

57. Mr. Amorós Núñez (Cuba), speaking on behalf of the original sponsors and also Bangladesh, Cambodia, Guinea and Turkmenistan said that paragraph 7 should be revised by deletion of the words " and encourages States to settle their disputes as early as possible " .
57 - السيد أموروس نونيز (كوبا): قال متحدثا باسم مقدمي مشروع القرار الأصليين وكذلك باسم بنغلاديش وتركمانستان وغينيا وكمبوديا إنه يجب تنقيح الفقرة 7 بحذف العبارة " تشجيع الدول على تسوية المنازعات فيما بينها في أقرب وقت ممكن " .

1. Mr. Loayza (Plurinational State of Bolivia) introduced draft resolution A/C.3/65/L.22 on indigenous issues on behalf of the original sponsors and Argentina, Benin, Cuba and Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of).

Mr. FERNANDEZ PALACIOS (Cuba), speaking on behalf of the original sponsors and Belgium, France, India and Nicaragua, introduced draft resolution A/C.3/49/L.13/Rev.1 on international action to combat drug abuse and illicit production and trafficking.
٣٨ - السيد فرنانديز بلاسيوس )كوبا(: تكلم بالنيابة عن مقدمي مشروع القرار اﻷصليين وكذلك بالنيابة عن بلجيكا وفرنسا والهند ونيكاراغوا، وعرض مشروع القرار A/C.3/49/L.13/Rev.1 بشأن العمل الدولي لمكافحة اساءة استعمال المخدرات وانتاجها والاتجار غير المشروع بها.

12. Ms. Chatsis (Canada), introducing draft resolution A/C.3/53/L.22 on behalf of the original sponsors and Belgium, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain and Sweden, said that the draft resolution aimed to improve the implementation of human rights instruments.
١٢ - السيدة شاتسيس )كندا(: عرضت مشروع القرار A/C.3/53/L.22 بالنيابة عن مقدميه اﻷصليين وعن اسبانيا، وإيطاليا، والبرتغال، وبلجيكا، والجمهورية التشيكية، والسويد، وقبرص، ومالطة، واليونان؛ وقالت إن مشروع القرار يستهدف تحسين تنفيذ الصكوك المتعلقة بحقوق اﻹنسان.

2. Ms. Kirsch (Luxembourg) introduced draft resolution A/C.3/52/L.70 on behalf of the original sponsors and the Marshall Islands, drawing the Committee’s attention to a number of revisions. The fifth preambular paragraph had been reworded and now read as follows:

Mr. Gala López (Cuba), introducing the draft resolution on behalf of the original sponsors and Botswana, Comoros, Honduras, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar and Sri Lanka, said that it took into account the analysis and recommendations contained in the most recent report on the subject (A/62/301).
