وما من شك في أن السيد كوفي عنان يستحق ثناء هذه الجمعية العامة على رئاسته المحنكة لمنظمتنا العالمية وعلى القيادة الممتازة التي يبديها في حسم قضايا دولية تتراوح بين الإرهاب ووباء الإيدز الفتاك، وبين الفقر والخلل الذي يعتري التجارة والتبادل التجاري في العالم.

I am also pleased to extend a warm welcome to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, which will soon be joining our global Organization.
ويسرني أيضا أن أرحب ترحيبا حارا بجمهورية تيمور الشرقية الديمقراطية التي ستنضم قريبا إلى منظمتنا العالمية.

But despite important efforts, so far our global Organization has failed.
