وإذ يُذكر بقرار الجمعية العامة 39/11 المؤرخ 12 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 1984، الذي أعلنت فيه الجمعية العامة أن شعوب كوكبنا لها حق مقدس في السلم،

ففي مرفق ذلك القرار ذكرت الجمعية العامة أن " شعوب كوكبنا لها حق مقدس في السلم " وأن " المحافظة على حق الشعوب في السلم وتشجيع تنفيذ هذا الحق يشكلان التزاما أساسيا على كل دولة " .

فيما أعلن رسمياً الإعلان بشأن حق الشعوب في السلم، الذي اعتمد في 12 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 1984، أن " شعوب كوكبنا لها حق مقدس في السلم " (الفقرة 1).
