Similarly, under article 76 (9), coastal States are required to deposit with the Secretary-General charts and relevant information, including geodetic data, permanently describing the outer limits of their continental shelf.

It is important that coastal States fully abide by the requirements of article 76 of the Convention, as well as other applicable norms of international law, in making their submissions to the Commission on the establishment of the outer limits of their continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles.
