The five members who have been appointed by the Secretary-General for the period from 1997 to 1999, with due regard to equitable geographical distribution, are themselves indigenous people: Mr. Michael Dodson (Australia), Mr. Ole Ntimama (Kenya), Ms. Tove Petersen (Greenland/Denmark), Ms. Nina Pacari Vega (Ecuador) and Ms. Victoria Tauli-Corpuz (Philippines), who served as the Board’s Chairperson at its tenth and eleventh sessions.

Pursuant to resolution 2000/22, the President of the Council appointed the following eight experts to the Forum for a three-year term beginning on 1 January 2005: Hassan Id Balkassm (Morocco), Michael Dodson (Australia), Wilton Littlechild (Canada), Aqqaluk Lynge (Denmark), Pavel Sulyandziga (Russian Federation), Parshuram Tamang (Nepal), Victoria Tauli-Corpuz (Philippines) and Nina Pacari Vega (Ecuador).
