2. The Fifth Committee resumed its consideration of the item, in particular the question of the relationship between the treatment of perennial activities in the programme budget and the use of the contingency fund, at its 74th meeting, on 2 June 2000.

It had had before it, on that occasion, the report of the Secretary-General on the relationship between the treatment of perennial activities in the programme budget and the use of the contingency fund (A/C.5/52/42) and the related report of ACABQ (A/53/7/Add.9).

At its 74th meeting, on 2 June, the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, coordinator of informal consultations on this question, introduced a draft decision entitled " Relationship between the treatment of perennial activities in the programme budget and the use of the contingency fund " (A/C.5/54/L.84), which he submitted on behalf of the Chairman.
4 - في جلستها الرابعة والسبعين المعقودة في 2 حزيران/يونيه، قام ممثل جمهورية إيران الإسلامية، منسق المشاورات غير الرسمية المتعلقة بهذه المسألة، بعرض مشروع المقرر المعنون " العلاقة بين معاملة الأنشطة الدائمة في الميزانية البرنامجية واستخدام صندوق الطوارئ " (A/C.5/54/L.84)، والذي قدمه باسم الرئيس.

However, the long awaited report on the relationship between the treatment of perennial activities in the programme budget and the use of the contingency fund (A/C.5/52/42), which had first been requested by the General Assembly in section XI of resolution 44/201 B, had not yet been considered by the General Assembly, as stated in the annex to document A/54/7/Add.2.
