وفي مؤتمر عام ١٩٩٥ للدول اﻷطراف في المعاهدة )بعد بدء نفاذها ﺑ ٢٥ عاما( يجب أن يتخذ قرار بشأن ما إذا كانت المعاهدة ستظل سارية المفعول إلى أجل غير مسمى أم أنها ستمدد لفترة أو فترات محددة إضافية.
