واتفقت اللجنة في اجتماعها ما بين الدورات، المعقود في 30 أيلول/سبتمبر 2004، على تعيين شيل كانت شارما (الهند) لكي يوجّه الأعمال التحضيرية للدورة الثامنة والأربعين للجنة وليرأس اجتماعات ما بين الدورات إلى حين الانتخاب المقرّر اجراؤه عند افتتاح تلك الدورة.
