In this context, we recall the initiative of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, calling for the recycling of debts in development projects, which would make it possible to reduce the debt burden and help the countries concerned.

Considering the initiative taken in 1998 by President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to organize a World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) under the auspices of the United Nations,

President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has consistently affirmed, in various regional and international forums and on numerous national occasions, the importance of the Palestinian cause, which we consider to be our primary issue and to which we give special attention.
وما فتئ سيادة الرئيس زين العابدين بن علي يؤكد في شتى المحافل الإقليمية والدولية ومختلف المناسبات الوطنية على مكانة القضية الفلسطينية التي نعتبرها قضيتنا الأولى ونوليها اهتماما خاصا.

In that regard, we reiterate that international observers should be sent to protect the Palestinian people, as reaffirmed by His Excellency President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali at the Arab Summit held in Cairo in 1998.

In this context, I wish to reiterate the appeal launched by His Excellency President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali for the creation of a world solidarity fund, as an instrument to complement existing international mechanisms, without replacing them.
